The Custom Gift Card – A Special Gift
Gift cards are a popular choice for what to buy the person who has everything. It’s a little more personal than giving cash and very easy to personalize. Buy a gift card and it can be placed in a gift card holder greeting card, a specially designed gift card box or a stuffed animal made to hold a gift card. It’s much more personal than just giving cash in a card.
Giving a custom gift card is certain to get used, never returned or never disliked or unwanted. A custom gift card can easily be purchased at a retail store whose gift card you would like to purchase. A custom gift card can be purchased at a shopping mall that is redeemable at any store or restaurant in the mall.
More and more often, gift cards are available at retail stores other than the store the gift card is purchased for. For example, CVS drug stores carry American Express gift cards, Sears gift cards, Home Depot gift cards chain restaurant gift cards. They are also popping up near cash registers in supermarkets for the supermarket and other stores as well. This trend is certainly making it easier for gift givers to give custom gift cards more convenient than ever.
Buyer beware! Some gift cards have expiration dates. To avoid wasted money, check a store or company’s gift card policies. Ones that expire in a few months or a year may not be the best one to purchase. Should the recipient misplace the card and later find it, or decide to use it towards a larger gift while saving for a purchase, they just may be surprised to find the custom gift card has lost its value. This is certainly a property I doubt any gift giver or recipient would want in a gift card. Many stores and companies issue gift cards that do not expire. In the best circumstances, this is the best possible gift card to purchase. Thousands of gift card dollars have been lost as a result of expiration dates. This also adds to the profits of the companies issuing these cards that have expiration dates. Making a profit on an expired gift card seems to be a bit unethical.
The Rise of the Coproate Gift Card in the 21st Century
Over the course of the past five years, gift cards have become increasingly popular. Each and every year more and more people are giving and more and more people are receiving gift cards. With this in mind, this article has been prepared to provide you with an overview of the rise of gift cards and of the associated trends. By taking a look at this information, you will come to an understanding of how prevalent and how important gift cards have become in this day and age.
The reality is that gift cards have become major business in countries like the United States at this point in time. In fact, more and more people are turning to giving gift cards as presents to people in their lives each and ever passing years.
In 2006, the sales of gift cards in the United states passed $80 billion. This really does represent an incredible amount of money. The sales of gift cards in 2006 represented a whopping 20% increase over the sale of gift cards only one year earlier in 2005.
In breaking down these numbers a bit further, in 2006 alone about $60 billion was spent on gift cards that were issued by retailers of different types. In addition, about $23 billion was spent on “bank” gift cards. These are gift cards that carry the logos or Visa, MasterCard, American Express and Discover.
The sales of gift cards particularly is intense during the holiday season. By the time the 2007 holiday season rolled around, the sales of gift cards in that year nearly doubled what was experienced during the same time period in 2006. While most experts do not expect this dramatic trend to carry forth by the 2008 holiday season, these experts do nearly universally agree that the demand for gift cards will continue to increase each holiday season into the foreseeable future.
On the downside, there remain a significant percentage of consumer who lose out on gift cards. There remain some gift cards, for example, that have expiration dates attached to them. In other words, these cards must be used by a date certain of the value is gone, the cards are cancelled or voided. Moreover, people do lose gift cards from time to time. In any case, in 2006, 10% of all gift cards were not redeemed because of these issues, leaving consumers losing $8 billion in unused gift card value.
As a final note, many merchants and retailers are rethinking the whole issue of expiration dates on gift cards. Moreover, the government is becoming at least somewhat involved in this process as well to protect consumers who may not appreciate that some gift cards do expire.

I have a VIP gift card and I want to add money to it. Is this possible? And if so, how do I add the money onto the card? The card is still in service with little money on it.
depending on the type of card this is possible. what you need to do is flip over the card, and dail the 1-800 number on the back. This will tell you your balance and everything, plus tell you how to add money to the card if you can.

Once you’ve redeemed the card, you can then purchase the new software.
